The South Sands Hotel is a fantastic contemporary boutique hotel designed in a New England style. It boasts a beachfront location and has 22 beautifully appointed bedrooms and five opulent beach suites, many with stunning sea views. The beachside restaurant and terrace serves delicious fresh local seafood, indulgent afternoon teas and a great selection of wines, beers and cocktails.
There are five room types to choose from, all furnished to the same high standard but varying in size and aspect:
Optimist – Designed in a contemporary style with a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. Bathrooms feature a bath with shower over, and all rooms have a valley view
Enterprise – Same fixtures and fittings as the Optimist rooms, albeit larger, with a valley view.
Yawl – Larger again, with a king size bed and bathroom with bath and shower. Yawl rooms enjoy a partial sea view.
Dragon – Spacious and enjoying full sea views, the Dragon features a large ensuite bathroom with seperate roll top bath and walk-in shower, plus two comfortable armchairs to relax in.
J-Class – The best sea view, with two in-room bathtubs overlooking the ocean and a huge 8ft wide bed. The J-Class also features a large balcony, two large bespoke Robert Langford chairs and a beautiful dressing table. The largest and most luxurious bedroom available.

There are two ground floor rooms which are fully air conditioned and allergy free. They are also equipped with facilities for disabled travellers. In particular room one has been designed specifically with the disable guest in mind and has wheelchair access, both to the room and the en suite shower, and assistance alarms.

Beaches
The hotel is situated right on the beautiful South Sands beach, in a sheltered cove, which is perfect for families with safe swimming and calm water. There are many other beaches nearby including North Sands (1 mile), Soar Mill Cove (2 miles or walkable along the South West Coast Path) and Thurlestone (6 miles). If you enjoy surfing, Bantham (8 miles) is a popular choice.
Golf
Thurlestone Golf Club offers an excellent 18 hole golf course in a stunning location overlooking the coastline. There is also a pro shop, and 12 tennis courts, 10 of them grass. Thurlestone Golf Club is approximately 6 miles from the Hotel.
Shops & Supermarkets
Salcombe (1.5 miles) offers an array of small local shops including delicatessans, butchers, clothing and homeware boutiques and a bakery. It is also home to many well known clothing brands, several of which were founded in Salcombe. The closest supermarkets are in the nearby town of Kingsbridge (6 miles).

The neaest train station is Totnes, approximately 40 minutes drive from the hotel.
